In the very first place, you should prepare your Canon Printer Setup. In other words, unbox the machine and set up its hardware. Then, turn it on and complete its initial Setup.
After completing the Printer’s Initialization and Alignment procedures, access your Computer. Now, connect it to a stable Power Source and turn it on.
Then, switch on your Router and ensure it is working properly.
Thereafter, power up your computer and connect to a stable, high-speed Internet Connection i.e. a Router. Then, launch a Web Browser on your system and go to “canon.com/ijsetup”. Here, click “Setup” and locate Driver Download link for your Canon Printer’s Model Number. Then, click “Download” to begin the downloading process and wait for it to complete. After that, you are ready to Install Canon Printer.
Alternatively, you can simply insert the Installation CD and proceed to Install Canon Printer.
* For Windows
First and foremost, locate the downloaded Driver software on your computer. In case of online download, check your system’s default download location i.e. the Downloads Folder. On the contrary, if you have opted to Install Canon Printer through the Installation CD. Then, check your system’s CD-Drive.
Now, double-click the Driver software to open it.
Next, you should click “Run” on the following Security Prompt window.
As a result, the Initial window of “Install Canon Printer” Wizard will open up. Here, you must click “Next”.
After this, it will redirect you to the “Connection Method Selection” window. As such, click on the “Network Connection” button.
The following window gives you the options for “Wireless Connection” and “USB Connection. Here, you must select “Wireless Connection”.
The next window prompts you to confirm that your Printer is turned on. For this, you must check its “Power Lamp” which must be lit and stable. However, if it is not lit. Then, press the Printer’s “Power” button.
On the “Install Canon Printer” Wizard, click “Next”.
Thereafter, you will get the “Printer Setup” window. Hence, click on “Connect To The Network”.
The following “Setup Procedure Selection” window gives you the “WPS” and “Cableless Setup” options. Here, you must select the preferred method. The “WPS” method can be selected only if your Router has a physical “WPS” push-button. While the “Cableless Setup” method works for all standard Wireless Routers. However, “Cableless Setup” option takes longer time to complete the Network Setup. Moreover, your Internet Connection will be temporarily disabled during the process. Above all, it doesn’t support systems with Windows XP OS.
Here, we will proceed with the “Cableless Setup” method. Hence, click on it.
Now, go to the Printer’s Control Panel. Here, you should press and hold its WiFi button. Wait till its “Power Lamp” flashes for 2 times. Then, release the button.
Next, you should return to the “Install Canon Printer” Wizard. Then, click “Next” if you completed the last step correctly. Else, click on “Start Again” and perform the last step again.
As a result, the Printer’s blue “WiFi Lamp” will start blinking. But the “Power Lamp” remains lit and stable. Then, click “Next”.
Consequently, it will begin the Network Setup process. During the process, it will also disable the Connection temporarily. Hence, wait for the process to complete.
The following window requires you to “Select Your Place of Residence”. Then, click “Next”.
Subsequently, select your Country and click “Next”.
After that, it will enlist all the available software to Install Canon Printer. Hence, either select the preferred software or click on “Select All”.
On the next window, you will get the details of required “disk space”. Hence, check the same to ensure your system has sufficient “Hard Disk” space. Then, click “Next”.
Now, the “License Agreement” window will open up. Hence, carefully read the terms and click “Yes”.
As a result, it will detect and connect to your Canon Printer. However, in case if it fails to detect the Printer. Then, it will suggest you to “Check Printer Settings”. Here, it requires you to try again to establish the Network Connection. For this, click on “Redetect”. You may have to repeat this step for 3-4 times because of your network configurations. Despite that, if it fails to detect the Printer. Then, print out the “Network Settings” Sheet for your Printer. On this sheet, check the SSID Name to ensure your Printer is connected to the right Network. It may require you to perform the entire Setup process again from the start.
Once the Printer is connected properly, you will get the “Setup Completion” window. This window displays the printer’s “Model Number” and “Network’s SSID (Name)”. Ensure that the details are accurate. Then, click “Complete”.
Thereafter, click “Next” on the following “Print Head Alignment Recommended” window.
Subsequently, you will have the “Setup Complete” window. Hence, click “Next”.
After that, it requires you to perform “User Registration”. Now, if you wish to perform the registration process. Then, click “Next” and follow on-screen instructions to complete Registration. Alternatively, click “Cancel” to skip this process.
The next window will prompt you to join the “Extended Survey Program”. Hence, carefully check the details. Now, click “Agree” or “Disagree” to join or leave the program respectively.
At last, click the “Exit” tab and conclude the “Install Canon Printer” process.
